ZIRO, June 16: The Mother of Mother’s Home and Chairperson of Achukuru Welfare Society, Ziro, Tylang Shanti was today honoured by Udyogini in recognition of her selfless service to humanity by awarding her the Anita Sen memorial award.
The Award was presented to her by Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Nila Mohanan in the presence of Udyogini representatives Rajiv Lochan Pathak, Poulami Bhattacharyya, government officials, Gaon Burahs, in a simple function at Mother’s home here.
The award instituted in the memory of a dedicated Programme Coordinator of Udyogini, late Anita Sen who lost her life in a train accident in Orissa while returning from a programme of Udyogini carries a citation and Cheque of Rs.25000.
The DC, while presenting the award congratulated Shanti on being recognized for her service to humanity. It is not an easy job to take up a philanthropic activity that too to take care of destitute, mentally retarded, physically handicapped etc by a person single handedly. Reiterating that her efforts need to be appreciated and encouraged by all sections of the society, she appealed the locals to give their love and emotional support to her. While encouraging her in her field of work, she assured her of all possible help from the District Administration and hoped that her work will spread to the entire state.
The DC also thanked the Udyogini for choosing Tylang Shanti for the award and for their special gesture of coming to Ziro to honour her here at her own locality instead of calling her to Delhi for the award.
The representatives of Udyogini, Rajiv Pathak and Poulami Bhattacharyya, highlighting about Udyogini and its activities since 1992, about the award and process of selecting the Anita Sen Memorial annual awardees said,Udyogini meaning woman entrepreneur came into existence in 1992 as a service provider for micro enterprise management services, principally training for poor, asset less and mainly illiterate women in the backward states of India.
The Jeevan Shuraksha, Ziro branch, also chipped in with a cheque of Rs. 50001 for the Achukuru Welfare Society as recognition of the service to the poor, besides arranging the function in liaison with Achukuru Welfare Society.
The Mother’s home at present is taking care of 13 destitute with varying degrees of physically handicap, mentally retarded and orphans, without any help either from the government or any organization informed cheerful mother of Mother’s home and chairperson of Achukuru Welfare society, Tylang Shanti in her activity report. She feel encouraged and promised to take in over twenty more helpless people to her mother’s home .
Dy Director, ICDS, Jaya Jaswal Singh, Social Activist, Rubu Bukar also showered praises on the activities of Achukuru Welfare Society. DIPRO
