FST Fellow Warengbam Dorendra screened his film documenting the lives of the Manipuri community living in Manipuri Basti of Guwahati on Sunday, the 16th January 2011 at the Rajabari field grounds in Manipuri Basti. The project was an interesting initiative involving participatory camera praxis with the community and by Dorendra himself. He held workshops with local youths and helped them to explore their lives and surroundings through the camera and prepare interesting short videos, slide shows which he also screened.  Dorendra himself made an eloquent film about the Manipuri people living in the area, tracing history by going down memory lane with the elders, introspecting with other residents about their current culture, values and practices.  Inspite of inclement and wet weather, the community turned out in large numbers to watch the film and appreciate its archival value as a telling alternative document of their lives.
