"FST seems to possess the
expertise needed to identify and
zero in on programs that
significantly enhance growth of
individuals and communities in
the region, especially those that
have been pushed to the fringes of
society. It is this knowledge of the
‘real’ Northeast coupled with an
equally rare daring to respond
creatively to specific needs
that makes FST stand apart."
Meena Debbarma
Sampari Hukumu Bodol
"The fellowship has helped me to
work in 15 remote villages under
Betanipam and Madhuripathar
Gaon Panchayats in the Dhemaji
district. I have organized
awareness meetings, workshops,
door-to-door visits, and advocacy
with related departments. I have
been able to acquire much
knowledge through the
trainings and workshops
organized by FST."
Swarnalata Changmai
FST Individual Fellow
"Before the fellowships, I could not communicate well or use the Internet. Now I can write reports and proposals, and can communicate even with people outside India. The Grassroots Development Network could stand firmly and provide services to the vulnerable groups of community through FST’s generous funds, recognition and
encouragement. "
FST Individual Fellow
“Ever since childhood there has
always been an urge within me to
contribute something towards the
betterment for the society. FST
provided me the platform to serve
this purpose of mine. We have
also launched a “Youth Collective
Group” to bring out creative
ideas. I had an amazing
experience during the activities
and now I feel that I am a
change maker of the society.”
Noyonika Gogoi
Volunteer at FST
"This process, facilitated by the North East Network ("NEN), a leading rights based organisation, resulted in the realisation of a definite and distinct need for a local institution and the consequent setting up of Foundation for Social Transformation – a foundation for enabling new and creative energies to socially transform
the strife torn region."
Dr Monisha Behal
North East Network
"I thought of an idea to document women's experiences and interface with IVF technology and doctors' views on IVF expansion in the North East of India. FST held full trust and faith in my idea and provided the platform to express my views based on the study findings to a larger audience
in the North East".
Leena Uppal
FST Individual Fellow
"Working with FST for the one
year gave incredible experience
on working with the women who
lost their loved ones (husbands)
in the armed conflict. IRDSO could
work with their emotions, traumas,
their life. I also feel that coming
together of these women itself is
a process of healing from their
traumas. I witnessed women
changing from the first time
I met and saw them."
Nonibala Narengbam
IRDSO, Manipur
"I would like to take this
opportunity to thank FST for
the support that you have made
available. Much of the work that
you are hearing about has been
made possible as a result of the
FST grant. The successes are
very visible and I cannot think
of a more successful partnership
than this one, where such
striking results are visible."
